  • Michelle A. says: I didn't live there but we were close by. My hubby is a recruiter. From the outside the housing looks beautiful. It's a small post and so is the city of Hanford. Post looks a little safer. Nearby there are outlet malls Target and Super Walmart. It is SO hot in the summer our electric bill was $800 in August our first year in the valley.

  • Kristi H. says: The housing is wonderful I just recently moved out in town though. We've been living in housing (various bases) 10+ yrs time to move on. Having kids I'd probably recommend on base town is actually 8ish miles away from base so if you only have one vehicle (?) it will be annoying trying to get around. If you are on base the hospital is right there commissary nex a smaller mini mart right near housing a post office it almost is it's own little town (the 1st few yrs we lived here we next to never left base). There are great youth sports on base the housing is Lincoln Military they have good activities they offer for residents as well. You don't find as many of the activities out in town I have teens so that works for me. And like she said up above the heat/electric really needs to be watched if you live off base!

  • Britany E. says: Thanks! Only issue with living on base at this point is the fact that there is a 4 to 8 month waiting list for us based on hubby's rank & number of dependents:( That and I noticed a lot of the houses on base are duplexes with a one car garage which i am not too excited about...

  • Penina M. says: Depending on your husbands rank number of dependence and the neighborhood your chosen for you could get a single home and some of the duplex homes have 2 car garages. The wait list isn't as bad depending if this is your first duty station. We waiting 6 months for a home on base because it was our first and I'm glad we did. I love living on base!

  • Lynsey R. says: We live just west of hanford in Armona. we save money living off base but the base housing is nice and relatively new. If I had to do it over I would have put our name on the list for housing.
